Gifting books: how to pick for hard-to-buy-for readers
Elena Marsh · July 7, 2026
The rule of three: one safe bet, one stretch, and one beautiful object — plus free wrapping.
Buying for someone who 'reads everything' is easy. Buying for someone who never mentions books is where the art is. Start with what they do mention: the film they quote, the trip they won't stop talking about, the hobby eating their weekends.
Our rule of three: one safe bet (a bestseller in their orbit), one stretch (a debut with the same energy), and one beautiful object (a book they'd keep on the table even before reading it).
And yes — we gift-wrap free all year, with a handwritten card. Tell us two facts about the person at checkout and we'll do the rest.
